The gravity-defying self-portraits of a ballet dancer
Berlin-based Taiwanese-French-American Mickael Jou merges his two passions, dancing and photography into an amazing body of work. His ‘365 self-portrait project’ shows him effortlessly floating in everyday scenes from supermarkets, to park, museum hallways and street scenes. The magic of his photographs lies within the combination of skillfully controlled dance moves, caught mid-move, juxtaposed with his casual interacting with the surrounding environment. The carefully composed images portrait himself as someone who´s natural state of being is weightless.
With his ongoing project he might, easily, fly to fame. One breezing pirouettes at a time.
