The Hanging Bar | A Hovering Prism in Paris

The hanging bar by French design firm Atelier JMCA.
French design firm Atelier JMCA came up with this intriguing, prism-shaped bar, as a space-saving solution for a small Parisian restaurant. The cantilever design — supported on only one side — makes the bar look like it’s hovering in midair.

Atelier JMCA, a Parisian architecture & design studio, have created a clever solution for a restaurant in Paris. They challenged the restaurant’s confined space with a long cantilevered prism, that acts as a table and a counter/bar.

The surface is not only functional but versatile. It can be used as a traditional bar for sliding drinks across the slick wooden countertop, or it can be set as a two-sided, banquet-style dining table for 12.
