The Icehotel Jukkasjärvi | Fleeting as a snowflake

This year sees the 25th installation of Sweden’s Icehotel, an enchanting frozen castle. The one-of-a-kind hotel is completely rebuild and newly designed each year by artists and architects from all around the world. The Icehotel is situated in Jukkasjärvi, a small village in Northern Sweden with about 2.000 residents, half of them being dogs. It is open for guests from December through April before it melts away till it will be reborn in the following winter.

Around 100 people are involved in the construction of the Icehotel, half of which are artists especially invited to design particular areas of the hotel. Icehotel is essentially a habitable art installation and each room is a unique creation.
